Oxford Castle is a large Norman medieval castle. It has witnessed many battles, including the English Civil War, during which it served as the temporary royal capital. Over the years, the castle has had many royal and noble visitors, some of whom passed away within its walls.
Later, it was used as the county prison for Oxfordshire and Berkshire, with many upgrades made to the building during this time. It closed as a prison in 1996.
Poltergeist activity and ghostly apparitions have been witnessed here, particularly in the 900-year-old crypt. An abundance of activity has also been reported in the cells. Doors have been witnessed slamming shut of their own accord, heavy footsteps and people being touched have all been experienced here. Some of these spooky goings-on have even been experienced by the castle tour guides.
On your ghost hunt at Oxford Castle, you will gain exclusive access to explore the building in an attempt to contact the other side. Do you have what it takes to spend the night in one of the UK’s most haunted buildings for a ghost hunt and sleepover?
There will be a sandwich buffet available, and from 3 a.m., we let you decide what to do next. You can either choose to sleep or carry on ghost hunting. A light breakfast will be served, which consists of pastries, fruit juice, and tea/coffee.
