About the Jail
Locally known as Castle Street police station, This old county police station and Jail is a Victorian grade 2 listed building dating back to 1875. The building still has the original wooden courtroom dock and public gallery. There are 6 cells beneath the courtroom that have the original wooden beds (just a piece of wood screwed to the wall), alongside the courtroom is the judges changing room along with other rooms across the building that had very different uses as a police station & jail.
Every room you walk into has its own character and has story to tell.
This building has stored up so much energy of the years from the many prisoners that have been incarcerated within its walls to the all the staff that have worked here, the walls are bursting with tales. This location isn’t investigated that often making it an interesting venue to investigate. What will you experience on the night……will you brave a lone vigil in one of the cells?
